Class diagnostics

A diagnostic is a practice test for one course. Each student gets a personal study plan from it. The Class plan pools everyone’s results.

Assign a diagnostic

1. 1Open your class, then Work › Assignments.
2. 2Choose Assign a diagnostic.
3. 3Pick the course (your class’s course is already picked) and an optional due date.
4. 4Choose Assign to class.

• Students see a banner on their Dashboard until they take it.
• You see who has taken it, the class average, the weakest areas and each score.
• The same list also sits at the top of Insights › Class plan.

SAT and MCAT compared with other courses

• SAT and MCAT: every student gets the same questions, so scores compare directly. Assign a second diagnostic later to see growth.
• Every other course: each student takes that course’s standard diagnostic. Any attempt after you assign it counts.

Using the Class plan

• The Class plan ranks the topics your class most needs.
• Teach the top topics in class.
• Students work their own plan topics as homework.
• A topic counts as done at 80% on its exit quiz.

The MCAT retake rule

MCAT students cannot retake the diagnostic until they clear every topic on their plan. You can choose Allow retake now for one student. It opens one early retake.
