What a diagnostic is, how it builds your study plan, where to find the plan, and when to retake the diagnostic to see your growth.

What is a diagnostic?

A diagnostic is a practice test for one course. It checks what you already know. It is not graded by a teacher unless they assigned it.

Every course has one. It is free, but you need a free account to take it. That is how we save your results and build your plan.

Your study plan

Your results turn into a study plan.
The plan lists the topics you should work on.
Topics you most need are marked High priority.
Your plan is on your Dashboard. Some course pages show it too.
A topic shows Done once you clear it.

Working the plan

Open a topic, do its lesson, and take its exit quiz. Score 80% or better to clear it. See What does “cleared” mean?.

When to retake the diagnostic

Retake it after you clear every topic on your plan. The retake shows your growth. It also gives you a fresh plan.

For the MCAT, the next diagnostic stays locked until every plan topic is cleared. Your teacher can allow an early retake. For other courses the retake is open anytime, but finishing your plan first gives you a truer picture.

Questions

Why was I sent to a sign-up page?: Diagnostics need a free account. Sign up, and you go straight back to the diagnostic.
Do I have to finish in one sitting?: Try to. Set aside enough time for the whole test so your plan is accurate.
Is the study plan free?: Yes. A free account gets a personalized plan for each of its first 5 diagnostics.
My teacher assigned a diagnostic. Is it different?: You take it the same way. Your teacher sees your results. A banner on your Dashboard reminds you until you take it.
